Today was a bit of a recovery day. Yesterday’s workout really took it out of me so I’ll take it easy and just try to get loose.

The eating is workout out really well. I like the food and it makes eating the “staple” foods from the rest of the week a lot more tolerable.

Felt good. I got fatigued before I gassed which was a new and exciting feeling.  It’s like I’m training for real again!  I use a GPS to track the time and wasn’t paying attention at the track because it really doesn’t matter to me…I run hard\med\easy for X distance.  The time will fluxuate a little depending on how fresh I am.  Getting that time made me feel pretty good considering my bombing on Sat.  I need to drop a minute off of it so it’s still considerably slower than it needs to be BUT I wasn’t going for the best time I could get at that distance and still got a “decent” time.  Warm and fuzzies.

What does NOT make me feel warm and fuzzy is my colon’s full blown rejection of my carb hour.  My stomach was killing me all day.  I got home and ate a (big) bowl of chili w\ a wedge of cheese on top and it settled right down.   Stupid carbs.

Notes:

Carbs are delicious.  The deadlifts went OK.  Pretty well tapped out on the rows.  Bench was just a bad day, don’t really know what’s going on with that.  I feel good and aware of my environment!  Hooray!

*Rest Day*

Last day of no carbs!

Someone sent me a note expressing some concern about the first 4 weeks of the little carb plan. I’ll crap out my view on that here:

For the most part when you’re figuring out your diet\training plan then you have to ask yourself what the purpose of what you’re trying to do is.  Once you figure that part out then you commit to it with your whole being.

If you choose to do a low\no carb plan then you choose to do so because you’re interested in losing fat.  If you’re interested in performance then don’t do it because performance is going to suck…it will.  The beauty of the low carb is that it’s flexible and you don’t have to put a lot of thought into it, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the “best”.  If you are willing and able to count calories then rock it out.   You’ll feel better and perform better and have similar results.

On the same hand sometimes you don’t want to put forth the dieting effort.  You don’t necessarily have to “suck” all the way  (I maintained or improved in most areas over the past four weeks), but it’s not going to be optimal.  Figure out your motivations.  Work with them.

Notes
first go through went OK, 7:30avg or so and then I just gassed. There wasn’t anything left in the tank. Done. Second stretch was a run\walk.  This is the first time in a while that I’ve been pooped to the point to where “gutting it out” really wasn’t an option.  There’s probably a few factors going on, none of which I really care too much about.  Chalk up a loss and press on.

Felt good this morning. I wanted to do the pullup one and then seen how much nuts were sucked on the first go around with this one. There’s still room for improvement, the lack of doing swings for a week or two took its toll. Fatigue’d real hard around the 5\6th round. Pushed through. My REAL complaint is that I changed my playlist on the MP3 player and deleted the songs on it…but forgot to put the new ones on. Crap!!

TNT Day 24

2×1mi run (7:30 avg pace)

Notes:

I didn’t really push on the run and it showed on the time.  There’s that line between gutting through and being smart and it’s hard to know which side of it you’re on at any time.  Bottom line is I’m getting bigger, stronger, faster while losing weight.  It’s hard to complain too much.

Speaking of losing weight I’m down 5lbs in three weeks.  That’s not “wow” territory but it’s pretty awesome to me.  Jeans that were snug are falling off.  Everything I’m training is still gaining or at least maintaining.  I only put about >< much thought into what I’m eating so the stress level is low as far as diets are concerned.  Good work!

Notes:
about a 6:50avg pace which isn’t great but it’s moving in the right direction. I need a 6:40(ish) to be “on pace”…and then go 3x as long, but still. It seems that after you’re physically capable of running at X speed the rest of it is just how low your nuts hang.

I was feeling a special kind of un-motivated this morning but just knocked it out and and a good session. Somewhere a kitten died to make it happen. That’s OK though…cause kittens suck.
