I watch weird shows and get little pleasures out of it.  Iron Chef (USA or JP) and Good Eats are my personal favorites.  Another one that’s gotten a lot of air time in my house is “UFC All Access”.  What it is, is a little snapshot into the daily world of a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) stud, with their training and xience advertising, blah blah blah.

The interesting part for me is when they talk about training and the consistencies across the board.  They all have their own little methods and weirdnesses, it’s no big thing.  They all say right about the same things concerning the long haul.

“What’s the hardest\most important thing about what you do?”

-Consistency.  Doing what you need to do every single day no matter what.

Notes:
Squats were on the menu, but the gym that has the rack was closed. Bastards.  The sled (that was available) only had about two more pegs on it, which made me feel pretty manly.  Then I thought “Who cares what you can lift on a sled?  No one.  Sleds are gay”  And then I was sad again.

The low volume work is giving me a nervous twitch.

Notes:

I had a hard time motivating myself too much with the pushups\situps.  The run was a pretty hard push.  Still sucked, but then again I haven’t ran 1.5mi in a month so it was a pretty bitch’n pace compared to my normal 3mi.

Notes:

Today was low on the motivator day. I think part of my leg issues was\is the impact from running. Parts of my leg (joints) are still really sore. Muscle wise I feel fine. Joint wise = ouch. One high point for today was I did my first set of pull ups as a strait set. That’s an 8rep PR right there. I don’t think I’ll ever do it again, but it’s a confidence booster from sucking ass at the DB bent over rows yesterday.

I learned that my hands are still too sore to hit the bag. I pulled out every trick I could think of over the past two days…nothing. I’m stuck with the “letting them heal” option. CRAP!

This is what I like to call “sucking at conventional lifts”.  Wow, it’s been a while and it’s showing x10 right here!  Over all a pretty quick and easy day.  Figure it was a good opportunity to just get loose and play around a little bit.  My left hand is pretty well healed.  My right is still a little tender but I think I might be able to try working the bag again tomorrow with some creative use of tape and padding.

After some soul searching I think I’m going to give crossfit a go.  I’ve been looking a little more closely at it and there’s a lot more strait up strength training than I remember and there isn’t a whole lot of complete retarded things that are beyond impractical any more.  I’m pretty excited.

Me and the family went on a little trip this weekend.  I continued to feel really weird and have some lack of control\stability in my legs so I’m going to go ahead and take this weekend off and start scaling back a little bit.  The last three weeks were supposed to be hard and they were.  No real damage done, progress has been made…continue on.  My diet has continued down the path of ass so that’s going to be getting special attention very, very soon.

Felt really good this morning so I made a hard push on the run and did well enough.  I tripped up on the box jumps and ended up with my face 1/2″ off of the box and the one other guy in the gym staring at me.  Fortunately no contact was made and I just pressed right on.  Go team!

Felt a little out of it this morning so I took it slow.  My knuckles are chewed up from hitting the bag on Monday so I didn’t want to mess with the weighted vest or anything else that would likely cause me to scream like a little girl.  Decent enough session over all.

My calves are still dead. More importantly than having a good time I had a real nice effort on the run. Sure it was slow but I felt like I was giving an honest effort and that makes me feel good about things.

2nd half of the session went well. It took roughly about 20min, which is still pretty slow but under the circumstances very acceptable.

When I started this rotation I was looking for more of a “don’t die” than a “thrive” scenario. Go for about 6 weeks or so and gut it out\push forward no matter what at which time I’d adjust anything that needed to be adjusted. So far things seem to be progressing really well. The 5 sessions in 3 days was a little much but otherwise the only problems that I’ve really had are ego related more than session related. Yay!
